What to see in and around Bansko

The old town
The cobbled streets of old Bansko keep stone houses with high walls and heavy gates. The Holy Trinity Church was built in 1835, and its bell tower can be seen from anywhere in town.
- Neofit Rilski House Museum — the birthplace of the scholar and teacher born in Bansko.
- Velyanova House — with the vivid murals of the Debar master Velyan Ognev.
- Nikola Vaptsarov House Museum — the poet’s birthplace.
A short drive away
In Dobarsko stands the 17th-century Church of St Theodore Tyron and St Theodore Stratilates — small, built of stone and with murals that come with curious stories. Banya and Dobrinishte have mineral springs and pools, good for an afternoon after skiing or a walk.
In summer Bansko also hosts a jazz festival — check the dates before you travel.
